This is an old thread, I know! But so much useful information in it.
I'm working at a rescue where they give it daily. I'm wondering though, some of them can also bath in it. Is that something to be careful about?
Interesting question. Due to the type of liquid could it have the same affect that oil spills have on sea birds? I suppose it is probably not risky as it is heavily diluted.

I really have no clue, but I'm interested

@Missmary there is so little raw apple cider vinegar in the drinking water I really dont think your bird would find the taste bad. My budgies and others had no issues drinking it. There was no odor to it after mixed either.

I would not want a bird to bathe in vinegar water, however. There would be no logical reason to do this.

Just be sure to use Braggs or other unfiltered apple cider vinegar.

Because budgies are prone to getting yeast growth in the GI tract I think it is important for them. Bigger birds with larger diameter crops can get food down better. As a prophylaxis I added ACV to drinking water once per month. The ratio is 2 tsp to 1 quart water. Once you have lost a budgie to this terrible, sometimes fatal condition you will want to do this. Why? It is not a cure for AGY but it will help slow down growth of yeast.
I know this is an old thread, but the Internet is so inconclusive about this. I've read from 1 tbsp (15ml) on a liter of water to this here, which is 40ml on a liter. That's almost 3 tbsp. I've got a cockatiel who I suspect to have a yeast infection but our avian vets are not sufficiently skilled to test the bird properly. Can I make a mix of 3tbsp on a liter of water and give that once a month for a week or will I be making matters worse?

Yes. Give it daily, I assume that’s what you meant.

I meant for once per month for one week. Check with your vet first.
