oh boy okay so i originally had jaspidot because he couldnt fly, and just today i went to a creek where the water was overflowing from recent rain (it's had a huge effect on most main areas of south australia). the park itself is lovely, and its where my family got our first lorikeet, who had been stolen from her nest by a kookaburra, then dropped and rescued by my brother.
i spotted a little rainbow lori sitting on the ground, which is kinda unusual. i got close to it and it didnt move way from me? when i tried catching it it tried to fly and it fell flat on its face, tragically. it was clearly juvenile. since it had no way of getting back into the gumtree, and the weather was incredibly cold and harsh, i knew it wasnt going to survive for very long. so with some help from my mother i scooped it up into my poncho, it screeching angrily. so now its in a box after being fed and hopefully i can return it to the park eventually but in the meantime, welcome to the family lil bird! <3
