Caiques are sadly expensive and I heard they like company of there own kind (?) So you're looking at at least £1000 before the addition of the cage and toys plus food etc...

Are they more expensive than larger birds in the UK?

Birds here have gone up in price it's ridiculously... a macaw is a few thousand dollars... a regular budgie is $70

Caiques are about £500 each
Macaws about £1000-1500 but maybe more depending on the species

Yeah I don't get why they're so expensive. The cheapest bird you can get is a Zebra finch.. maybe that's a sign ;)
They’re so cheap because they are so easily in care, and they breed so well!
Stick a couple together, throw in some seed, and before you’re done doing a pirouette, you’ll have 100!

Oh! I thought budgies too! They used to be like $10-12 when I was a kid
