I just want to share with you guys my favourite place to visit. I have mentioned it in a few places on the forum but I thought I could make a thread

So a kind of local park to me is my favourite place to visit because it is a special park. It is almost a hybrid sanctuary.

The park is quite large, has 4 entrance gates, a large lake, a pond, water fountains, (a large kids play area), a cacti garden and lots of animals.

I never visit without food.

Here are some of the residents;

Chickens, pigeons and doves,





Rabbits, (peoples abandoned pets )






Guinea pig,


Swans from the lake;


The lone swan who lives in the back pond,




Goats, who we aren´t allowed to feed,



Peacocks,



The peahen, who lives near the back pond hidden away in a secret corner,


One time I went the peahen had a chick!,

Wow! I'd visit as much as I could too. Its a beautiful place!!!

That looks absolutely incredible! Wish we had parks like that here! All those animals are so beautiful thank you for sharing!

I like to picnic in the park,

And they wait patiently for some food,

And the chickens like to nap in trees,


The goats had babies last year,


There are lots of Quakers,



And this guy,


And occasionally there's ducklings,




And ducks,

So if you go missing, this is probably the first place we should look.

Great pictures, I am sure all the animals know you as the snack lady by now.

Unfortunately, the zebra is not real....


Some more chicks, I saw these guys in the cacti garden recently, they were so young they didn't know what to do with the food!,

Yes, they follow me around the park. I try to feed the chickens etc more than the pigeons because the pigeons can go the the bars over the road and scrounge but the chickens don't fly.
There's a little old lady who frequents the park and feeds baguettes to the rabbits and they all come to her unhealthy but they love her.. They will eat my veggies if she's not around.

Awww I love places like this! I don't know about you but when I was back in England I could never find such places that were free?

Near us we have a big animal park with native animals like deer, lynx, marmots and capricorns and its completely open to the public! We hike there every week and that is mine and my husband's happy place.

We also live near the city park that has some really unique birds and will sometimes take in wild rescues too, but it's relatively small.

I don't know about you but when I was back in England I could never find such places that were free?

No, in my area people don´t have the respect to maintain a place like that open. We used to visit some farms that were free. I liked visiting my grandads house in Scotland and walking through the glen seeing the pheasants etc.

You can see under the tap (I think it is for cleaning feet? I´m not sure) we leave containers. And we fill them with water. When I walk around I always tip out all the water, rinse the container and fill it again.
Most people use their brain and will also do the same courtesy but I have seen people empty and move the containers and not put them back.
The newer taps have a bowl at the bottom to collect water. I think they are for dogs to drink from, but they all share.

Dogs in this park must be kept on a lead and there are designated ¨toilets¨ for dogs. I have never taken Jacob here.

Here you can see the newer taps. A small girl came over and tried to kick these babies and her dad said nothing. But I did.

I forgot about the donkeys. There´s two. They are retired and belong to the donkey sanctuary. I wish they would do more with them... take them for walks in the park or something with a bucket to collect donations. Anything.
