    Homemade perches

Hey! So I recently bought my budgies a natural cork perch which they are loving. I’m interested to try and make them myself as it seems far cheaper to buy the natural cork wood pieces themselves. Does anyone have any advice on how to add the fixtures to the wood and how to make sure it’s safe...

Safe to use Vinyl flooring near parrot?

Hello, I have some leftover waterproof vinyl flooring that I am considering using as a “backsplash” for my birds space- behind his cage and play gyms. I wanted to be able to attach different perches and toys and allow him to basically be able to climb up the wall in addition to his other spaces...

    Parrot hut ideas

Hi all! My GCC has had a happy hut for 9 years now. It's canvas on the outside and some fluff on the inside. I've trimmed off most of the fluff a long time ago and he only uses it for sleeping and doesn't chew on it, however, I still prefer to consider alternate solutions occasionally because I...

    Perches on drywall?

So these perches are made for cages, but have you ever tried screwing them into the drywall instead? I have a bay window and I am thinking about possible ways to put some perches on the wall around the window. I thought I'd ask here first before poking holes in my wall. Another idea would be...

Things like little DIY foragers, reusing broken toys, using items found...

Is the remaining sawdust and dead insect in perches after baking harmful?

So, I just went out a pickup some mapple branches to make natural perches. I had to get the bark of since some mapple's bark is toxic to birds. By doing so, I saw some tunnels filled with sawdust. I saw on line that by washing, soaking and then baking the branches will kill anything alive and...

    Diy toys

Here I'll be posting diy toys that are easy and fun. Be careful that the recycled toys you use don't have the hardened glue on it. Make sure your bird is not ingesting any of materials. Recycle alot of stuff, anything as long as it's safe.

Do this with your coconut hut instead

I just figured out coconut huts are bad for your bird, so instead of throwing it away I turned it into a foraging toy.

Is driftwood safe to use for building a tree stand?

I would be getting the wood from a clean, freshwater river. I already talked with the local nature advisory and they gave me the green light to take a few pieces. I'm planning on cleaning it with some non-concentrated Dawn (what I use to clean his cage) and some F10 (veterinary antiviral and...
