Those are small.
I have the FTB ones in macaw size. I really like them. I can't say what size you need but I'm sure we will make do.
If Bscoot is learning... yes, get FTB skates. LOL

i have one somewhere. i could only give them rides on it, it was too heavy for them to move (Rudy). It's really cute isn't it?

My birds have one. I actually bought it for Sophie and she will perch on it but I have to push it around.

Let them check them out for a few days. Just throw some food around them and let them touch the skates. If they step up on them great but don't ask for it yet.
You have to go slow with this one. That's the mistake people make. If something scary happens too soon they quit altogether with going near them.

Okay, thanks. So far they have ignored them. They aren't scared of them, just ate the treats from around them. Played fetch and rings around them as well.

That's amazing! I see how different Maui and Kahlua( ok I know I spelled that wrong) are in their learning! I'm going to give it a try today. Also waiting for FTC skates to get here. Thank you so much, Sarah!

VERY DIFFERENT. Maui has no fear, he has never had an experience to not trust a human. Kailua has an abused past and is very hesitant of new requests. I adore her as she is getting to the point that if "I" ask, she trusts me... Of course she always give me her "I really don't like it" swipe. It's her way of saying I should give her the nut without asking for something.
Kailua is also not really food motivated. I have to use better treats and lots of praise to get her attention.
Maui jumped on before I even had the camera rolling. I was trying to judge where I was going to film him and what direction he was going to do best with. It shocked me.
Either way you want very short high rewarding sessions. We want days of stability so nothing shocks them when we untape them.

Watch how I move my hand of treats to adjust their direction and to encourage Maui's second foot. I have the treats close and when he puts up one foot I move the treats a bit further away so he has to step that second foot up to reach. I also try to have him "hold it" for a second before rewarding him but I would not do that to Kailua.

JoJo didn't have a lightbulb moment. I need to use the clicker. He stepped on it a couple of times, but didn't associate it with getting the treat. Mostly he kept sidestepping them to get to the treats. Finally he picked them up and tossed them to the floor where they split apart and that was the end of the session! I'm going to rewatch your videos again. He isn't scared of them like Kailua, but he needs a lightbulb moment!

Don't take Kailua's hesitation as fear. If she was scared I would not ask for her to step up on them. We would spend more time doing treats around them if she was scared. Jojo does not have to be ready in one day. If he is not yet associating the session with the skates as treat time, go back to just putting treats around them for a few more sessions.
