Thanks Pat! Duncan is not happy to be back in the aquarium, but hopefully he will settle down soon.

Like BF said he may need to be prevented from picking at the stitches. Sure sounds like that is what happened.

Leave those stitches alone Duncan. :(

I missed something, why does he have stitches? Sending healing thoughts your way & stay calm hugs for you.:hug8:
On Monday the 9th Duncan jumped off his cage, we think, and landed wrong. His Keel bone punctured the soft tissue on his abdominal area. He got stitched up & put on a 10 day course of meds. Yesterday was his recheck & everything looked good.

You are doing a great job with all the help you are getting. Stay calm and keep a close eye on your bird. If he is still bothered by the stitches you are going to need a collar. The stitches probably itch from the healing. If you have a major problem with bleeding reach for the cayenne.

You might ask the vet about trying Vit E on the skin around the stiches and see if that will help...I know it helps my Too when he decides to bite into himself!:( It helps the healing...:hug8:

Nikki, I'm so relieved to read that the bleeding subsided. My GW Kita had stitches on her facial patch recently and the AV had me use the HEALx Soother Plus cream. You may want to ask your AV about it. It's a pain reliever for post surgical wounds.

SOOTHER PLUS CREAM 1oz.-Harrison's Bird Foods

Sending healing thoughts Duncan's way and I hope he has a quiet restful night.

This kid never stops! Lights are out, now if Asher would stop calling for him. They have their own cages side by side but Asher does not like him in the aquarium. :hug8:

Thanks, BF! I'll keep that in mind & call tomorrow when Duncan gets up if it's okay to put on. :hug8:

See Nikki, we are ALL here to help you and Duncan and try to do some thinking ahead for you to ask ?'s for the vet tomorrow...
Have you seen the site for the collard?
Bird collars
Gives you an idea if you needed to make a collar quickly for Duncan out of insulation and wrap it with gause/ tape....I'm not talking about the plastic round here...just the insulation part Or you can do the same thing with thin cardboard and pad it with cotton ball, gause and tape...:hug8:
