Rescuing a puppy today. Advice please

I just got a call from chuk. He tells me there is a 20 pound bag of food in the corner of the room so if the dog got hungry enough he could just rip the bag open to get food. The dog also has access to the water in the toilet. Gross I know but at least he can get water. So he won't be starved at least. Just lonely.

That makes me feel a little better.

I'm glad your going to see to him! Why hasn't your friend told the police or officials at the jail that he left a live animal unattended? The police would have taken care of it long ago. I hope the dog is doing ok.

How big is this puppy and how old is he? My your journey be a productive one. Do you have a lead you can keep him on. I hope the collar he has on if he has one is not too tight. You may need to call a rescue if necessary. Perhaps your Vet will check him out for free. He will need shots, worming etc. I rescued 2 dogs. The first thing I did was to take them to a Vet. One dog I kept and one I found a forever home for three months after we got him. He was a great dog and the new owners love him like a baby. You are doing a wonderful thing, John.

Hoping for the best for the pup. Try to find a rescue. The shelters are overcrowded.

I am just seeing this thread now, omg! some people are just crazy..anyway Jl,my advice here is to be very careful of bringing this puppy into your home before a vet check,if he has fleas your animals will get them too..I wouldn't worry all that much about having to turn him into a shelter, I hate to say it but he will get the best care their,shots,flea bath,deworming,neutering ect..puppies usually find good homes fast,it's the older dogs that have trouble..I know you are not interested in keeping him yourself but thats an option too..good luck to you and little poochie,your a good man..xoxox.

Can't wait to hear some news, I hope the pup is okay. What a horrible situation for this poor little guy, though I was very relieved to hear that he at least has access to water and most probably food so hopefully he is not in too bad shape. You are a good man John, I hope that you have some good news for us. I will be thinking hard about you two. Have a safe trip back.
