@Joey wade how is the pretty boy doing today ??
After a great day yesterday last night he vomitted when I came home and woke him up for dinner. I got the medicine down, but refused formula. Also this morning the same thing. No vomit from last night, but when he woke up he started the head jerk and Vomiting. Immediately afterwards he was flying around and attacking newspaper balls.

I'm headed back to the vet anyway in a few hours. I am hoping it is yeast and not something difficult for them to find. His beak smells yeasty.

If it smells like yeast, it probably is yeast. Let us know what the vet says.

Weight is 1050g. A little bit of bacteria and a tiny amount of blood in feces. They have given doxycycline and said "a little" when I asked if I should worry.

So there we go. :-(

Yes, I have F10 and have been using it a lot. @rocky'smom

Why are they switching meds? You have not been on them long. No budding yeast? I can't imagine where blood is coming from... if at all? Have you been watching his poops?

I am more worried that switching meds and to doxycycline that gives me yeast every time I have to take it for infection. it wipes out any good bacteria in the gut and that to me is super invitation to yeast to grow and run wild.

I asked specifically about yeast and she said none. Didn't offer any specifics about the blood. Honestly I'm not sure she would have even told me except I kept asking lots of questions.

Been on Baytril a week. they wanted to switch because the bacteria was much better but he had started vomiting so they suspected something else might be the culprit "like chlamydia or something".

Poops have been wonderful until last night and today. They haven't been dark at all and nothing red to suggest blood. Super runny (but he also hasn't held down any food the last two meals either.

shoot, it maybe very tiny amounts of blood that is not visible to your eye. chlamydia, Really, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that makes me wonder even more. I would move him back into his own room because chlamydia is contagious to other birds if I am not mistaken. I am worry wart for my two and I can't believe you aren't worried sick for Vader.

Oh I am very worried. The vet was the one who told me I should just be "a little worried" (I was just trying to gauge how serious it is)

But I'm more discouraged. Feel like the same thing is happening again that happened with my Harelquin that died. The hope I have is that this just started and he acts fine. Flying around, still eating apples, chewing on everything.

Here is his most recent poop:

If it's in fact Chlamydia, looks like a very long road ahead. Not sure why he mentioned it, but he said it in passing like there was no real reason to suspect it was specifically that. Is there any chance at all he was/is just going through some weird weaning thing? Tonight he let the formul dribble out again but has discovered a new found love for nuts (without discovering how to differentiate them from thumbs yet). Poop looks better than this morning.

If the bleeding is in his upper digestive system, you would not be able to see it as red. After it travels through the digestive system the blood is no longer red. I know that Baytril can cause necrotizing of tissue - Hank and Jasper both were on Baytril so long that they had necrotizing tissue. Wasn't Vader on Baytril before?

I never had one minute of trouble with Doxy, but Sarah's Korbel (B&G) was violently allergic to it. Get him on Probiotics right away and Prozyme will help him with digestion.

Here is information from Avian Medicine - read Enrofloxicin, chloranphinacol (sp?), doxycyline. It appears that Doxy is one of the antibiotics of choice for chlamydia.

Chlamydia has a pretty short incubation period. A week if I recall. If you contracted it, it would have came from HIS office. Not sure why he would even mention it without testing for it. That's ridiculous! It's the type of thing we test for when we have a new bird and then don't test for it again. That's a long shot I'm guessing.

Everything I've read has said doxy for 40ish days for chlamydia. The vet never mentioned that long of a treatment at all. I really do wish we had a proper specialist here. I don't want to give him antibiotics that long without actually knowing what it is. Then again I don't want to chance it actually being chlamydia and coming back later because I didn't give it long enough.

Hank (GW) was on Doxy for 4 months and showed no side effects. Jasper was also on Doxy for two months. Both were taking it for a MRSA infection.

I don't like your vet. Just throwing that out there.

What was the recommendation for length of time with the doxy?

Your poops are awful green for formula. What kind, how much, are you mixing it as directed?
