Yesterday was 1 month ago since I lost Eloy. And I never thought that I really could manage without him.
I removed the candle lantern, and placed a beautiful rock that I found in the forest on his grave.
So sad not to light a candle for him every night, but I will put some flowers and blueberry plants their instead.
I'm so tired of crying and missing him so badly, all I want is to get him back. I don't want those tears but I'm sure of that if this is right:
If tears could build a stairway, and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again."
Then he soon will be home again!

I lost my first American bird, Kiwi Quaker, to pneumonia after barely 2 years of having her. We were one in spirit and I will always miss her but now, 8 years after she passed away, I still remember her with regret and wonder if there was something/ anything more that I could have done to save her. I took her to the vet asap but it was already too late so I do know how you feel.

Regret and second-guessing yourself won't solve any sadness. Remember that you loved him with your whole heart and that he knew it. You will meet again after crossing Rainbow Bridge. Eloy was always a happy bird and very much loved from every post I saw. You have a new fid to love and save, so you have a new path for your love to follow.

You have my love and admiration from across the sea.

And I'm so glad that I shared him with you so you could see what a wonderful friend he was.
For me he was perfect, and I have so many memories. They hurt now but I hope in the future I can remember them and him with only joy for those years we got.

I can think of Nerd now without always getting sad and think of all the fun we had together, it will happen but it will take time

We will always miss them. Because we love them with all of our hearts, they take a part of our heart with them when they go. Our hearts do heal over time and the pain does become less.

I equate it to any serious injury. It will heal but it will take time. And even after healing it still causes pain from time to time. And you never forget it. The pain of losing someone we love is the same way.
