So sorry to hear about your loss. My lovie is 5 years old.. currently in my hands. She has had so many seizures over the last 3 hours. Started at 2.30am - no emergency vet nearby that can help birds (their words) and only one avian vet open today (Sunday) at 10am. First time this has ever happened. I am so scared and feel helpless. Seizures lasting around 90 seconds.. all vocal.. 3 major seizures lasting 15mins or more. She has now started twitching non-stop between seizures. I have been searching the web high and low for help but there isn't much I can do until avian vet opens. She had check up and bloods done 2 months ago. No sign of metal present.. slight vitamin deficiency so to be on safe side I have been adding vitamins to her seed mix. I hate not being able to help (except hold her each time she has a seizure).

Thank you Cynthia & Percy.

6.29am.. ten minutes without a seizure (longest break). Poor baby is knackered and refusing water.

keep her warm and lower all of her perches, so if she has one it's less of fall to the bottom of the cage. if possible write down everything that she has had to eat and drink in last couple of days. also write down all the times she has had a seizure and if possible video it for your vet. them seeing it helps a great deal.

Seizures are so scary. The best thing to do is to keep her warm, hydrated, in the dark and as quiet as possible. Yes take out perches so she can't fall an hurt herself.

Ideal would be if you have a source of oxygen. Oxygen and valium are quick treatments for repeating seizures.

Do you have a syringe to give her water? Has she eaten?

Thank you. I've been holding her since her first seizure and have her cuddled up on my pillow when she isn't having one. I've managed to get a teeny bit of water in using the syringe but in between seizures she too tired to drink.

7.16am.. seizure number 33. Longer breaks between each seizure but seizures also lasting longer.

Can you get her in right away. She really needs oxygen and something to stop the seizures.

Possible to call the vet and ask to call you if a spot opens up today?
Also do they know that the provlem is escalating?
Big hug.

Unfortunately on a Sunday they are the only people open and they don't open until 10am. So I will be heading in at 10 as an emergency case. I've tried ringing and there is no answer :-(

Praying for Zazu.
Yes, just go to the vets office directly. At least you won't be alone there and they will help you.
