just what you said..by far my easiest going birds with exception of the blk palm...YES alot of nuts and space we go tru alot of mac nuts but also alot of walnuts almonds pine and pistach..for all the birds right now we have alot of extra birds and no sutable adopters..:o:( and phone calls keep coming...wish i could share the Hys with all of you..:hug8: They (TICO, CHA CHA,MYA,KEKAY)say THANKS

Absolutely Beautiful!!!!:heart: If I had more room, I would try to get another one. They are such the gentle giants. It is weird though...I have no problem playing with my Hy (Lapis) and having her chew on my hand and such. But I am terrified of our Miligold. He just slices with his small beak!!

I have one question though...are any of your guys missing their yellow strip on their tongue? I was told that she had an illness when she was young and that was why she never developed the strip. I am just curious.

Thanks and they are so beautiful when they are wet (and green)!!!:hug8:

They are beautiful!! WOW, I never knew you had 4. ... you need to show us more pics of your macaws!

Their size is very intimidating at first but once you get to know them and become more comfortable, the wariness wears off. They have a great personality and temperament. They are extremely large and not suitable for many people from sheer space requirements alone not to mention food costs... :eek:

Not only that but the amount of wood they go through!

same here i will let all the Hys chew all over me but i am more AWARE when my miitary or scarlet are on me...my GW and B&G are kool but still not as gentle as the Hys...all of mine have their yellow strip

Not only that but the amount of wood they go through!
Mercedez..none of mine are big wood chewers like my other Macaws..they love LUCITE toys leather,plastic toys,anything to tear up to get things out of,barretts,pony tail holders buttons zippers(anything on you they can get to:lol:.....they do chew up wood just not that much compared to the others
