Aww thank you! I have tried to google local shelters but I just get a bunch of nonsense search results not in my area.

I know of Phoenix landing but they have no great right now.

It might be worth your time to go anyway. Getting a sense of what it's like to care for a similar-sized parrot and building a relationship with the people who work at the rescue will help you move to the top of the adoption list when the right bird for you turns up there.

Are there any NC bird groups on fb? There are a couple PA ones, where I live, and people often post on there if they have birds to rehome, looking for a bird, etc. That might be something to check on.
