I am very relieved myself! It is gut wrenching.. you don’t know what the outcome is going to be, but I have learned that if you hold hope, you will get your bird back! The neighbor across from me lost her Cockatiel recently, and she never got it back. I kept thinking of that and that it could possibly be the same case here. We have been SO lucky, Charlie (Cockatiel) has gotten out 3 times and we have got him back every time, Leila got out once, we got her back, Keiba has gotten out 2 times now, and we have got him back both times. Someone is being good to me, because none of them birds could have come back, but they did. I also have lost 2 Cockatiels, never got them back, but to have birds get out more than once, even just once, and get them back, we ought to be very lucky people.
Keiba is also very, very, close to me, so I think that helped too, and we had done a bit of recall training, which also can help, but it seems they never go far from the house, they know where home is.
Sorry, I am rambling now, I am the happiest person today of all days, well not only me, but my mum and brothers too, they would have been just as sad if Keiba hadn’t came back, though he isn’t too keen on them.
Thanks again everyone, and thanks for updating this thread.
Oh my gosh I am so glad! You must have a birdy angel looking out for your fids. I would be an absolute mess if one of my guys got out....I would probably just die.
