Tons of smoke in the air

A bit of a scary post for me. People an hour and a half away from me have been evacuated due to fires, and there is so much smoke in the air. I’m doing my best to protect Tango from it, air filter on high, windows and doors closed. Any tips for keeping her safe from smoke? Also any tips for packing an emergency essentials bag just in case would be appreciated.

You're doing it already.
If the smoke is more than your air filter can keep up with, I'd move Tango and the purifier to a smaller room so the door can be closed (yielding less volume of air to filter).

Emergency kit for you is here, and Tango would need food and a travel cage at least.

Maybe the bathroom?

Keep yourselves safe! Are you at risk of needing to be evacuated?

Thank you. I have a carrier, it’s not very big but would have to work.

The room she is in is working so far, it’s my bedroom.

Not at this moment, but the wind is ridiculously strong right now.

I blocked the extra air from coming in by placing damp towels at the bottoms of doors and windows (we have small air gaps in the window frames for water to run out) when we were dealing with a close bush fire that was smoking us out. It helped.

I have the window open right now because I can’t smell smoke with the way the wind is, and my room is really hot and stuffy.

How are things looking by you? Hopefully fire has died down.

Came to ask the same thing! Y'all doing OK?
We’re doing fine, but unfortunately the fires are only growing. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Alberta Canada is on fire. It’s scary since it’s only beginning of May and only going to get hotter and drier.
Thanks for checking!

Another thing that I found that helps is damp paper towels between the window opening seals can seep under those seals very easily.

Glad to hear you're still okay! Hopefully the fire dies down soon, must be scary :sadhug2:
