Today's Homemade Dry Mix Picture

Cherrios, Granola, muslei, flax seeds, dried strawberries, oatmeal, coconut, various kashi cereals, banana chips, pine nuts, a few little rice crackers and pumpkin seeds. Sometimes I will crush up some arrowroot and digestive cookies and add that.

I have a plain clean seed mix (that the vet makes), that has no extras in it, I add my own nuts to that.

So every night after supper they get a little bit of seed mix and a little bit of the cereal mix in a dish.

What are digestive cookies?

It is kind of like an arrowroot cookie but it has more fibre in it. I think they are made by peek freens or christie's. My bird love love them

if you but the kashi cereal make sure you buy the stuff with less sugar, some has lots and multigrain cheerios

You can just use your own imagination to make a dry mix for your birds. In fact, it's good to change it on a regular basis so they don't get tired of it.

I will add, it was ML's idea for me to do this. Ever since, the birds have been enjoying it.

I went to a local health food store around the corner from me....they had all kinds of stuff.....I browsed and go this and that! lol it was fun shopping! And the owner gave me a discount too....I have more I put in containers and plastic bags...makes a ton of food!
