Splash passed away yesterday morning. A quick exam by the vet shows signs of anaphylaxis and he believes he has found one sting, and one possible sting, possibly from a wasp.
I've now had enough of rescue budgies. My experience has been one of disappointment and heartbreak. None of the rescues have lasted more than a few months. Understandable when most of the budgies here come from bird farms via pet stores, and therefore carry disease or genetic problems. I know Splash didn't have any of those problems, but something else decided he wasn't to be with me.
I'm gutted, but I'm in a new mind now. Any bird I get from here on will be bought from a breeder, either directly or through a short term stay at another home.
I'm sorry, but being charitable hurts like heck sometimes and I am sick of it.
