Hi there! Recently I started converting my sister (budgie) to a pelleted diet specifically Lafeber Senior Nutriberries the ones that come in the orange colored bag with the African grey on the front picture. Lately things have been decent. Sometimes she eats a tiny piece of pellet but mostly she just picks out the seeds and berries. I tried multiple things but came to the conclusion that I need to break the pellets down so they are easier for her to eat. I tried crushing them with a spoon, breaking them up by hand, nothing really works. No matter how I do it the pellets never end up small enough for her to eat or hold in her mouth longer than 2 seconds before she decides to throw the pellet away. So, I decided I would need a blender to break down the pellets to a crumblier like size. But the only blender we have at home is huge and my mom uses it for lord knows what. So I decided I wanted to buy my own mini blender just to use on my sisters (the budgie) food. But before I set out to find one I wanted to ask the community if theres anything I need to look out for when buying a blender specifically for this purpose. Any harmful material I need to watch out for when shopping? Any specific blenders or brands you suggest or that you use yourself for this purpose? If so please link me to them. I’m not looking for something crazy expensive, just small and can get the job done. I would prefer getting it form amazon since I have prime for free for 6 months since I am a college student. (Wanted to put that out there in case anyone else is a student here). But if anyone has any suggestions they got in store, I live in Florida so the stores near me are Target, Walmart, Ross, Marshalls, TJMax, etc. I would really appreciate the help.

Would a coffee bean grinder work for that?

I love the suggestions, though they are out of my price range I will keep things like these in mind when doing more searching for one.

We defenietly have those at home but again my mom uses it for who knows what. Considering the price of most blenders I might just buy a motar and pestel to do the job instead and see how that goes. If it does not work then I will go back to the blender option.

Zip bag and a rolling pin.
Failing that a blade type coffee grinder. Cheap enough.

I was going to say a plastic bag & rolling pin. A blender would turn the pellets to dust.

The blender I use takes all of 5 seconds to turn a cup of pellets into powder so I do think the mortar and pestle or bag and rolling pin is a better option in this case.

@Mizzely thanks for that link. My 20+ year old chopper needs to be tossed.
