Hi, I'm a member of what I like to call the packed sardines! 7 birds and 7 humans all living in a cramped 2 bed. Funky eh? Oh yeah! Canada! This is mainly for my two tiels (chickens) since I'm already a pro with them budgies.

One thing I think helps, especially in limited space. Is to attach perches to the outside and top of the cage. Makes it a home base play stand. Easier for them to move around than walking on the cage bars. And well that makes me think of a second thing ! Make use of the wasted vertical space above the cages. I use a ceiling hook ( weight rated) heavy fishing ling to attach a rope spiral or other to hang a few inches above cage.

Kind of like what Pixiebeak referred
to, I have my cages set up with branches or jungle gyms coming off of them. I’ve lived in a tiny studio with two or three birds and had to maximize usefulness of the cages.

I’ve also got a basket set up for my small parrot. It’s a medium wicker basket; the handle pie wrapped with sisal for a better grip and some toys are hung from the handle. I line the basket with paper to catch droppings.
My Quakers have really enjoyed these baskets and I can carry them by the handle to place them wherever I’m sitting. Here’s Willow’s basket, set on my bed.
