Sorry for all these questions my lord- but this forum is the only way I can get them answered by other owners lol!

so recently I found out that the pellet Brand I’m using for my conures isn’t the best and I was looking for good recommendations for better pellets! (Also a good plan of a diet for my four children) I use the colorful pellets I believe the brand is “all living things”? But from some stuff that I’ve been looking at recently, they’re not good at all! They probably dye their food but that didn’t pass through my brain and now I feel like a horrible bird mom. So if anyone could maybe give me some tips on a better diet that would be so appreciated. (P.S im a minor and it gets hard to find people who are experienced with parrots, and all the owners of parrot stores as well as my father don’t really do much reading on them so this is my only source of good advice so very sorry if I talk a bunch or ask many questions, I’m trying to improve myself as a bird owner so my lovely’s can live their best life!!)

Also I’m not that experienced with birds and these are my first ones. I look forward to having another conure in the future but I want to improve the best I can!!!

Don't be hard on yourself! Any kind of pellet is better than a mostly seed-based diet.
@Mizzely has a great resource for comparing different pellets you can find here:
Harrison's and Roudybush are usually seen as some of the best, but your birds may not necessarily want to eat them. Harrison's sells a sample kit and Roudybush sells half-pound pouches you can buy to see if your bird will even eat it. If your birds end up being picky eaters but you still want something without artificial dyes, some alternatives I've heard good things about are Zupreem Natural, Zupreem PastaBlend, and Higgin's InTune.

Good luck! Remember to take it slow if you decide to change their diet. I would recommend buying a scale and weighing your birds every morning during the conversion to make sure they don't lose more than 5-10% of their body weight. And if other pellets don't work out and you end up staying with All Living Things, ultimately the best kind of pellet is one that your parrot will eat :)

They aren't my first choice mostly because I can't do a lot of research on the company as we don't actually know who manufacturers it. My guess is FM Brown, which has some questionable products on the market. I also don't like house brands because they are only available at that place, which can create supply chain issues for yourself, and it makes it harder to track recall history.

Are dyes my favorite? No. But my Jardine's only eats Zupreem Fruity so that's what he gets ;)

If they are eating it, doing well on it, and it fits your budget? Congrats on feeding your bird a better diet than just seeds :) If you can get them to eat a pellet without sugar or dyes, awesome! But don't feel like a bad parront because you're doing your best and trying to do better!
