Poop on Vent?

Today, I noticed my little budgie has poop on his vent. I noticed it after he was continuously scratching it with his feet. This morning, he had diarrhea-like poop on his ladder. He has acted normal otherwise- bobbing, tweeting, eating. He is close to a year old, so I doubt if he has any problems. Is this possibly due to him having an upset stomach last night? I don't remember this happening before. I appreciate any replies.

Did you feed your budgie any new food?

When one of my budgies discovered they loved lettuce, she ended up with watery poop the next day. She pigged out on the lettuce though. Her vent wasn't dirty though.

I haven't given him any new food. I have given him more treat lately however, and 2 of the treats include dried fruit.

Update: he seems to not be scratching and grooming his vent as much, but I'll keep an eye on him.

A dirty vent could be a sign of stress or even an infection.
