Shame Australia is so far behind in vax. They try so hard. Border closings took me a day out of my way to get to a airport to get home.
Poor Mom died during this but not from Covid, Now Dad is likely to be sent to a age home & so hard to think that may kill him.
Medical in Australia is hit & miss. It really needs to be better. I was fully vaxed in May. It was hard to get a vax but not impossible & I'd say more than half in US are vaxed now. People go about with no masks. I still wear mine as vax is not 100 percent safe.

Great photos from my 2nd home which sadly now will probably be the last time I visit.
Thank you kindly... Never say never about your visit! There is always light at the end of the tunnel! :)

@camelotshadow I think it’s possible that your experience and knowledge of our medical system is not quite the same as what people born here experience. Our medical system is actually fabulous compared to many other countries and you gotta remember that we still have very minimal covid cases here in comparison to most other countries. Not positive but I think this outbreak could be either the largest so far or maybe second down the line.
I understand that not all medical places here applied early enough or at all for the vaccines and many don’t even seem to know what’s going on at their own facility… I can go to my old town that has approximately 700 residents and get my vaccine- many here I know have already had both their doses. I could have gone a few months back to one of the larger towns to get mine but I chose not to as car travel that distance really knocks the crap out of me so I’ve been waiting for the particular vaccine I want to be available closer to my home. Astra Zeneca had been available to anyone who wants it here for a while now.
My comment above about the confusion of where to get the vaccines was more in reference to knowing who to ask about where it’s available. Calling any hospital or Drs clinic will get you the right information ASAP but many people don’t think to do that or even book a dr appointment to find out, they wait for the news or social media to inform them which I think is why do many have no clue what’s available or how to access it.
Unfortunately most people answering the covid hotline don’t seem to speak English as their first language so that also makes less people bother trying to find information that way.

Hi Shez... I feel that there may be more too it than what you have experienced, although I can only pass on our experiences! Everyone in our family has had to wait a minimum of two months to book into the local distribution centre to get access to the astra zenica! Then the goverment changed the boundaries about the age limiit, more than 3 times! That only created more confusion and mistrust! We then applied for Pfizer at the hospital and distribution centre at Homebush bay! I was able to get my first shot last week after waiting another 6 weeks. Olive is on the list but won't get her first does till September!

Our parents have only just recieved their two doses of Astra. So I think the rot is deeper than what you may have experienced there!

Kind regards

Lodah, Olive and Pilo

Pilo after his morning bath and blow dry, he is so cuddly afterwards. His assortment of foot toys are in the draw that he is sitting on!

Waiting for his breakfast of course!

They're wonderful! What beautiful wrens :xflove: I'm so impressed with these photos! Little, quick-moving wrens are hard to photograph.

My mom was an Australian citizen with a Australian passport. She may not have been born in Australia but she should have been treated as a Australian citizen. I am just saying as I saw it medical was really not great but maybe it was the small town she was in & dental is practically non existent.

I guess there are certainly always going to be differences between towns, states and medical staff.
I forgot your mum was in QLD where I do remember the system as not being as good or user friendly as it is in Vic. The public dental is basically non existent now, you pay for everything there unless you have an emergency voucher (which are very limited) or you’re a child (under 16 I think)- that all got changed a few years back and it hasn’t been rectified since.
I rang this morning to book in for my covid shot and am getting it this afternoon… wish me luck.

Mom lived in NSW but died in a Stanthorpe QLD (an hour away as no room in a NSW care facility) age care facility in a few weeks she starved to death. Tenterfield even the hospital sometimes had no Drs & people died. Moms Dr was very incompetent & lax. Had her on meds that a heart specialist took her off of. No real competency.

Hospital never answers phone as cooks & telephone operators are frequently asked to help with patients as there are no Drs & sometimes only a nurse or two.
