Hello. My name is Patrice, Trice for short, & I'm in the process of purchasing a DuCorps. He's 4 months old & still being hand-fed formula thru a syringe. I'm a little concerned at this point. Even right after a feeding, Malcolm incessantly whines & sways so he cannot be hungry. I visit the bird store every day to spend time with & bond with him. But the whining doesn't stop!! Any idea what's going on with him? I read somewhere that a DuCorps can do this up to two years then suddenly stop...but no reason was explained as to WHY. Can anyone fill me in? When I picked him out he wasn't doing this. But now the second he sees me he starts swaying & crying nonstop, despite my attention & cuddling.

Sounds like he wants comfort and food to me. Even if he's full or the store says he's full, it wouldn't hurt to feed him something warm, moist, and soft. He may not take much, but it will be good for him to know you equal security and will meet his needs. He recognizes you and expects comfort. IMO.

He will stop whining in a year or two. This is very typical of D2s. They whine and it has absolutely nothing to do with being hungry or needing attention and it will drive you crazy! One day he will just stop and you will never hear it again unless you are really really unlucky and live with my Reggie Lou who does a rendition of it for attention! Welcome to AA and to the world of being owned by a D2!:)

Welcome to AA and congrats on getting your Ducorps. As for the whining and crying, not a D2 but my bare-eyed did that for about 2 years and then suddenly stopped.
