Kristy...If you could that would be great! And also check to see that he is fed right. They need plenty of fruit, and WB like leafy greens. I think it said the diet was pellets, which a mousebirds diet should be varied, and mostly fruits.

If it is ok with you, I will mention I know a Mousebird specialist and give them some contact info of yours so they could get in touch if they have questions?

Yes...that would be great. Please PM me for details

I do question the reason why he was surrenered though, because of mousebirds feather structure they do not produce dander, etc. I suspect it was more do to time and the upkeep of the mouser. They can EAT, and eat, and eat...and that adds up.

I tried sending the center and email, and got an autoresponce that she is gone til Tues, but someone will be at the center.

Mousebirds, especially the WB LOVE their sandbaths (just plain play sand) so I'm hoping poor Jerry has his sand dish. And mousebirds should NOT be fed cirus fruits. the are high in Vit. C. Most fruits contain small amounts of iron, and Vit c binds iron in the body, which with mousers, you don't want.

Right? That is the reason Susanne got them, because they did not bother her like the tiels did.

Yep!...after I had the collasped lung from the cocktiels I researched for a bird that does NOT produce dander and mousebirds came up.

The 'Hussy' is the model for the pix. I beleive she is from the same breeder that the bird up for adoption is from. I strongly suspect if it was a young person that got the mouser it may have been more care than they expected and the parents may have had him/her give up the bird.

Come on Kristy...look at that sweet face :)

...Mebbe
I have to wait and see. I'm waiting for a call back from the local Petsmart to see if I can take home their two conures that they have who need to be adopted together because of their bonding, and need proper medical attention, rehabilitation since one of them is a plucker...etc. etc. I doubt they will accept my offer, but I haven't heard back.
I know nothing about the needs and cares of a mousebird, I would have to do SO much research before I could take him home!:eek:

I would be glad to answer any questions or concerns on him.

Until someone adopts him my concern is that he has a dish of sand and is being fed right...AND also something (even a feather duster) for him to snuggle against when he hangs to sleep. And make sure there are NO seeds in his cage. pellets, fruits and greens are fine. All self-respecting mousebirds need enjoy the sand for grooming.
