    Are there any other members of the forum that are owned by mousebirds?

    I have few, but would love to heear from others.

    I don't have any, sorry but I think they are incredible looking, I've only ever seen one live. It's really neat to see how they move and such. If I ad a big aviary I would have a couple!

    no I have never seen one...I think they are incredible t hough..are they tameable?? t hey sure are cute.

    I use Purslane from my yard in the summer in my birds food...they love it!

    Anne...yes if they are handfed they can be very loving. They can become velcro birds.

    What is really interesting is how fast they develop. An egg hatches in 11 days from the time layed. Once hatched they grow fast and by 10 days old fully feathered (just the tail still growing out) and will fledge from the nest.

    I don't have a mousebird, but i met one once! The person who had my plummie was breeding mousebirds. The mousebird was full of personality, and very entertaining. But I thought I remembered the guy telling me that they eat weird things, like pinky mice?

    Tell us more!!

    YUK!!! No...maybe he said mealworms? My white-backed mousers love them but the red-faced and blue-napes turn up their beaks. The bulk of their diet is fruit...and boy can they chow down And after eating they love their sand baths...

    Super pics, we had a member here that had them. We loved learning about them....then she left.

    The baby pics she posted were awesome!
