To anyone else here has owned or been owned by mixed species parrots, did you find it fun to figure out what traits the bird had from each species? I've always done this with mixed breed dogs so I guess it's nothing new.

Some of the stuff I've picked up with Comso (soon to be Slade), is he has more of a turquoise belly like his meyer's side. His wings aren't all yellow underneath like other brown headed parrots I've, they go from yellow right at the top down to white. He has edging of color on his feathers like a meyers, a beak colored like a BHP, and the weirdest part, he has gray eyes, not yellow or even orange like either of the species.

Who else has fun doing this, and what traits have you seen in yours?

I don't have any hybrids, but I do enjoy looking at pictures of them! Some of them though... figuring out where they got what is rather confusing if neither parent species display a particular trait or color! LOL

Mali still confuses me at times. Although she looks just like a perfect mix of Senegal/Meyers. She has all yellow under her wings, bright turquoise back and green wings with almost a jardines pattern to them. Her eyes are more red brown now than they were when I first brought her home. I sure wish I knew where she came from! She’s a craigslist rehome and I got her at 6 months old and I’m owner number 4! 7996D09E-CE10-43E1-A487-691DC4C3918F.jpeg

@Laylatoo Oh wow, that's a lot of homes in a short time. I wish Slade (formerly Cosmo) had more history as well. The foster said he was 100% meyers but it's obvious he isn't. All I had for history is he was rehomed for biting, and he was born in Florida (leg band). I'm his 4th home as well but he's 8 years old.
