Not sure where to put this, I posted on a local Facebook site. My black capped conure Galahad got out this morning!

I am sorry that he escaped. Did you post on Parrot Alert? Also contacting local pet stores and veterinary clinics is a good idea as when people find a lost pet they often contact these types of businesses. Another place to post/check is Craigslist's lost and found.

I signed up on ParrotAlert and I contacted Sam the Parrot, which is a local rescue for birds. I called the police and animal warden and all the local vets.

His cage is in an open area behind my building and I have some treats and water on top and a speaker playing lovebird sounds. (I also have a lovebird, so he recognizes their sounds.) Obviously, I'm completely devastated. I can't stop crying.

Thanks. I just can't stop thinking about how scared he must be, and about that image in my mind of the last time I saw him.

I’m so sorry your bird got out. Don’t give up, my cockatiel was out for four days in horrible conditions and I was able to get her back. I hope you can find your bird!

I was able to find our green cheek Pistachio after dark by shining a flashlight into the trees around our apartment. He was only a few buildings over; his feathers glowed in the light and made him easier to spot. Might be worth a shot.

Thank you all for your kind words, it helps to know that some people have found their bird. Galahad is so scared of everything, I'm afraid that will work against us. I'm going out in spurts to look today, of course its the hottest week of the summer right now. I'm telling myself I have to stay strong today and not break down. The stress makes me feel exhausted though, so I think I will need to have some short naps in between searching. I didn't think about calling pet stores, so I will do that too.
