Is a kakariki an 'other' parrot?
They are under 'softbills and other' on birdbreeders so I am unsure if this is the best category to post this or not.

Anywho, I was wondering what they are like as pets?
I also strongly favor the cockatiel, but their dust makes me reconsider.

I enjoy the look, size and sounds of the kakariki, but, what are they like?

I agree with you! Their sounds are so unique. Mark says they're eating machines. Active like a caique, but not in the same way. Busy little buzzing bandits!

Their name is bang on, they call 'kakariki' all day long - the Maori naming is always so descriptive.
They are hookbills so I wonder why they're not in 'other parrots'. I had a pair in 'respite' care for two whole months, wonderful colourful delights.
