I have been a lurker of this site for a long while now, it has been so helpful! I decided to finally join. It helped me figure out I wanted (and determine I was brave enough for) a parrotlet, my very first.
Cosmo, my bluebird of craziness lol.

I had a Budgie when I was a very little kid, and no birds since. And boy has the knowledge about pet birds grown since then! I'm still learning, but my lil guy sure is happy that the knowledge is out there, and being shared. Cosmo was born in December last year, I got him in March, so I have owned him (or he has owned me) for about 9 months now.

Cosmo is super smart, and already taught himself to step up, fly to me from his cage, and even give kisses, he even makes the kiss sound, it is so cute! He doesn't talk really, the only thing he says is one he learned before I got him, "tickle tickle!" And he only says it when he is angry! lol! Tickle tickle, angry shoulders, means watch out!

As for me, I am a goofball, big kid at heart, and already thinking about adding to my flock! I look forward to actually joining some of the conversations now

Thanks for the welcome! And yep, that is the picture from the home I got him from. Should put up some current ones, but have them on my computer, and not phone. Cosmo is terrified of my phone for some reason, but not of my camera lol.

The stories I read about parrotlets on here weren't joking about their big personalities. When he starts nibbling and I say, "hey, no biting" - he now laughs! He doesn't talk, but the noises he does make are so funny, between the angel kisses and sweet tweets for scritches and then the laughter at my pain it is like having my own little DoctorJekyll and Mr. Hyde. But I love him to pieces. He was supposed to be my significant other's bird

Are those your budgies? They are so pretty! We are currently trying to decide if and what kind of bird to get next.

P'lets are little birds with large personalities...and it sounds like Cosmo is no exception to that rule.

And you are totally correct...they own you, not the other way around...
