How do I lessen how often Cockatiel tries to mate with toys?

Okay so my baby White Face Cockatiel is somewhere around 5-6 months of age and has started showing hormonal behavior like constantly being cranky as well as developing some white feathers on his face.

Today, I noticed he/she has started rubbing against his kabob toy and squeaking high pitched with his wings outstretched, which I saw in another forum here, may indicate that it is trying to mate with the toy. I haven't heard him making this type noise before and was concerned. Since my baby is a lone Cockatiel, would getting it a same sex friend help lessen the behavior?

At 5 to 6 months my guess is he found something that feels good and is exploring that. That's normal for all animals.

Yes, it is a very normal and healthy thing for birds to do.
With six birds, we see this type of behavior quite a bit.
Again- it's normal and should never be discouraged..
