Hi I'm Taliesin and Lewi!

I recently inherited my grandmothers Orange Winged Amazon, Lewi! She had him for over 20 years and recently had a dementia diagnosis and a fall that left her in the nursing home (for the time being) she is no longer able to care for Lewi, however I plan to take him with me for all Holidays to see her. Right now my main goals is bonding and getting him on a healthy diet since my grandfather was only giving him fruit for the past year or so.. in the past week I’ve made huge progress with him, he will now step up (only when he wants too) and will let me scratch his head and beak Any advice would be appreciated! How nice of you to help out with Lewi!
OWAs are the Best. I have an Orange wing girlie, she's wild-caught and 55 years old this year.
She likes to have a bit of cuddle and scratch in the sunshine before our afternoon nap.
She really likes cooked carrots and cooked green beans, and cooked garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas), and raw celery and carrot sticks, sugar snap pea pods. She prefers red bell pepper chunks whereas my Blue front Amazon prefers whole minipeppers. oh, and raw brussles sprouts cut in half, and raw broccoli.
She likes shreddable seagrass mats, large balsa chunks, and whole mahogany pods. California Bird Nerds is one of our vendors that sells those.
Be sure to sing and dance with Lewi, they like it!
