Hey everyone,

Aussie here! New to this forum, and I really love it. So, I'm 20 years old and still in uni but at somepoint in the future I'd like to own a parrot. I'd love an eclectus but I feel they are too big and too loud for me, and for now I'm torn between a green cheek conure and cockatiel. I've had cockatiels as a kid and loved them (my profile pic was my beloved Honey <3), so as an Aussie I feel loyal to a fellow "Aussie" (ridiculous I know ) but I'm fascinated by the green cheek conures. They are adorable!

So I'll be surfing the forums trying to get the nitty gritty of particularly the conure, since I've owned cockatiels. It's the noise I'm mainly concerned about, along with the 1 parrot vs 2.

G'day.

Both tiels & GCC's are more on the quiet side as parrots go but both can do there share of noise if they want to.
It varies with how they are raised, there environment big cage vs small cage & if they are taught independent play.
Every species has there exceptions but GCC can be more on the nippy side & are a bit more active.

So while browsing about birds I have discovered that a state I wish to move to (Western Australia) does not allow conures! *sighs* Queensland (my home state) bans cute small mammals like ferrets and rabbits, and WA bans a lot of parrots like all conures and quakers. Can't have any fun.

Fellow Australian here, I have a male Australian Eclectus parrot. He is not what I would call a big parrot and while he can be loud, it's not that often. He will sit either on top of his cage or play-gym and chatter away. Each Australian state has its own regulations in regards to owning animals. This can be a ban on non-native animals, to requiring a license to own an native animal.

I hail from Queensland, but I am unsure where I'd like to live (hence why I'm parrot free at the moment!) Considering either here, WA, SA, or TAS as eventual places however. Each state has a comprehensive list of what they allow etc. But we will see I probably won't get a parrot until I'm sure where I'm gonna live.
