Flight Feathers

I am new to having a young tiel. My previous experience was with one that showed up on our doorstep and adopted us. My new baby is somewhere in the 4 to 5 month old range and came from the store with his wings clipped. Not that unusual, I know. I plan to let him have them grow back and be able to fly all he can inside, unless there become safety concerns. But that is not my current issue.

I expected to flight feathers to grow back around the first molt, that should not happen until 6 months or older based on my research. But it appears that his right week flight feathers are growing back in, but the left wing are not showing up yet. He will not let me spread open his wings and get a good inspection, but the right wing has definietly grown the longer flight feathers, and about 3 or 4 at best estimate.

So any thoughts on why they would not grow back symmetrically and why they would be growing so early?

I’d guess they were either clipped uneven or he’s maybe managed to knock some out causing them to grow back in uneven.

Have you been able to find the clipped flight feathers that have fallen out? The clipped feathers have to fall out before the new ones will come in! I'm letting my Tiel's flight feathers grow back in and have been watching for the old ones to fall out. He had 8 clipped (4 on each wing). He's 7 months old and halfway there. (2 on each wing). I've noticed they have fallen out in pairs, and it's been a slower process. Each pair fell out about 2 weeks apart from the other pair.
