Ever have a rehome come in that seems to be disconnected?

Oh, I think you're doing great with him, and it sounds like he is making steady progress every day. Sounds like he doesn't want to get his hopes up as he has had many disappointments in life. Consistent attention will turn him around....and those nice hot showers! Would love to see pics of him.

wOw, Debbie! He's gorgeous and looks very healthy. I'm sure he will come along under your great care.

Even though he still seems disconnected, it really does sound like he's making huge progress already. Don't rush him, be there for him, and try to encourage him when he wants to do things or interact. It will take time, but it sounds like he's going to come around.

What a lovely bird. It looks as if your patience with him will pay off eventually. Poor little mite does not know what is going to be happening to him next probably and has not got out of that mode of wondering.
I know when Rambo first came to us a year ago his disconnection from life was because he was so weak and ill, but much the same type of attitude.
He was as near death as a bird could be and survive. After about two weeks of eating and sleeping he became interested in what was going on around him again and joined in with the living by biting anything that moved! Good luck with this dear little bird, you will win in the end.:hug8:

He is beautiful. Getting adjusted takes time. Remember, it takes a year to see a baby walk on its own...time is what we all have...be patient. He and you will be fine.
