The quacks are all from Mama's. at 3 weeks old, the ducklings are still peeping. Although, any juvenile hens can start to make little quacking noises any time in the next few weeks.
Today is the 4 week anniversary of the 1st hatchings. We were hanging out by the duck pool just watching and heard a different sound coming out of several of the youngsters. Not peeps, not quacks, but somewhere in between. Hens voices change before drakes. So yea, more hens! more. Noisy. hens! lol
Now at 4 weeks old, the ducklings are getting wing feathers. I love the scallop markings on the Grey & White girl here. Her peeps have changed to a mid pitch quack. And yes, they eat right out of our hands.
Now at 12 weeks of age, only those who know the ducks can tell mama's from ducklings. 2 of them have been "croaking" for about 8 weeks. Yesterday, I noticed that Spike has decided its time to sport his curl.
