Rollerblading along the road
Today Cinnamon, one of my chickens, passed away.
Some of you might remember her as the same hen who has had respiratory issues in the past. A few days ago I noticed she had a small cough. I didn't really think much of it until the nest day when it got worse. I called a vet, bought some medicine and gave it to her, and hoped that things would blow over.
Well, the next day she was breathing beak open, and it was audible. I spent a lot of time with her that day, and gave her more medicine. Booked an appt with the vet, which was hard to do because of covid.
I was supposed to bring her today. This morning I fed her along with the rest of my hens, and she was still faintly wheezing but seemed fine otherwise, still active. Few hours later I came back to her to get her to go to the vet, and found that she had passed away.
I feel like it's somehow my fault; I should have spent more time with her today.
This has been a horrible year for my chickens. First Kiki, now Cinnamon? I suppose it must be because they're getting older. I don't want to lose another hen this year...
