gahh tonight he jumped off the top of his cage and busted it open again. My poor baby.

He is going to have to go into total restricted mode.

Yes I don't think you have a choice. It's never going to heal if he doesn't give it a chance to. If you could put down some kind of padding in these places where tends to fall would help. (It would be nice if you had a padded room like in a psych ward :D )

I think a restricted cage is a good idea. My red belly lost all her flight feathers on one side from a night fright and continually kept bashing them and breaking them as they were growing in, due to her trying to fly when she came out. I ended up limiting her out of cage time and only having late night snuggles as to try and prevent her from wanting to fly. It definitely helped, she's all full grown in now.

He busted it all open last night. There were some good scabs going.

I told my DH that the only out time he is going to get is sitting on us or eating. :( This sucks.

I washed it last night and it is definitely healing. He is still on restriction. Though last night my husband put him in the cage and closed the door without thinking and knocked him to the ground with the perch.

Luckily it did not bust it open.

He hates when I look at his bum. He knows when I do, I am about to put stuff on him. Poor guy.

Last night he fell not more than 12 inches and busted off the scabs. It just keeps getting worse.

I took him in and left him with Dr. B. Dr. B is going to suture a bandage into place. He has to stay with him for 2 weeks. Please send my baby get better vibes.

I should clarify, it is more he leaps off of things. He seems to lack the understanding that he cannot fly.

poor little Eko:( he's such a sweet guy, I hate that he and you are having to go through this again. he's back there eating his cooked food right now, making his cute little noises and i just set up a slightly larger cage for him that will fit on the counter since he doesn't need to be in the hospital cage the whole time he's here. Figured he might want a little more butt room to turn around:D
