The avairy is and always has been , common territory. Not like a personal cage, nestbox, or lord help us, food dish.

This is about a long standing dislike, suddenly released into the open

This thread is quite shocking. Are caiques bigger than GCCs or just more violent? Makes me glad to have one species, though I guess that didn’t help here.

both. Their playful personalities are similar to a point

But the caique is built for wrestling and enjoys play fighting ( and REAL fighting)
The GCC is a lil ballerina

I'm sorry they've had it out for each other for so long. You have probably had to change your aviary and cage arrangements a time or two to keep up with this feud. I hope Fingers heals quickly.

There was only a dislike till hormones hit

individually they are both tremendous little charmers. Fingers is a terror on teh furniture, but a lil lamb with everything else

Ken (of ken and Barbie fame) is a MONSTROUS KILLER when the hormones hit. otherwise a gentle sweetie

I knew an avairy keeper who told me he would hold the caique male under his boot so he could visit the nest. I said HAHA, I thought he was joking

It's good that Fingers is doing OK. Some of my red-bellied parrots have fought with one another even though they were caged together for a long time.
I wound up having to separate all of them into individual cages.

Boy Pippen our yellow sided Green Cheek is a terror when she gets out. She accidentally got out when sister was cleaning her cage when she left the bottom door slightly open afterwards. I noticed all the mess on the floor so I broke out my cordless Shark and I noticed Pippen happily watching me from the OUTSIDE of her lower door I reached over with my sleeved arm to try and get her peacefully on and in and she ran down my arm biting the fabric till she found my bare hand so she latched on below my thumb and started chewing I'm OUCH..OUCH..OUCH!! STOP IT as I tried to get her back in and shake her off. I gotta little blood blister and she got a talking to and much later a scritch when we both calmed down through the bars. That's why she doesn't get out much, she can turn into a tiny Raptor as soon as she has to go back in

Are caiques bigger than GCC...

They're quite a bit bigger -- GCC average weight is 66g, whereas Caiques average 160g (almost 2.5x the size).

How is your Fingers today?

Fingers is not fully mobile, hes not flying yet, and his tail feathers have seen better days, but in all other ways he' is his old self again

He flinches when any energetic bird swoops past (I mean YOU DingDong) but he is eating well and chirping happily in the sun all day

He is sleeping in my bedroom and I hear him beak grinding happily at dusk

he will be fine
