911 Budgie suddenly having stamina problems.

Hello over the past few days I noticed that my budgie wasn't able to fly 3 rings around my room, my room is medium sized and then a few days later I noticed he couldnt fly for 1 ring around my room, he had to fly to one place sit there wait then fly to another, Im wondering is there any diagnosis to him? He recently had a respiratory infection.

He is a little fatter then normal

Maybe the respiratory infection never fully went away or came back?

I'd take him back to the vet to make sure the infection cleared up completely

You also need to ask the vet about the possibility of a fungal infection, such as aspergillosis. Do you have other birds such as cockateils or cockatoos or an African Grey?

He’s seems to be doing okay, little better the before still having a tiny struggle flying vertically, or hovering. He can do some laps around my room.

For a 4 year old budgie seems to me on the light side but I am used to English budgies which are in the mid 40 to 50 grams. I suggest you get a daily am weight on this bird before breakfast and keep a record of it. If you vet did not mention the weight as being an issue then I guess its not.

He’s breathing fast I don’t know if he is a nervous bird or he’s actually sick..

Average for a budgie is 36 and he’s 38 grams
