My male cocktail who getting quite old now(21) has started whistling and chirping at night and drinking a LOT of water which is kind of concerning, normally he sleeps just fine covered ,with a small night light on and also has a little drink before bed .He is also acting as if he is gasping for air after drinking almost like he’s choking and he randomly will do this throughout the day. Should this gasping , weird sleep and over water drinking be a concern?

I think a change of behaviour in an elderly bird is worth getting checked out. I recommend making an appointment with an avian vet

I agree with @tka. I would see a vet to be safe. Drinking a lot of water can be anything from being over heated to kidney problems. So, yes, I would take him to a vet. (I have two older tiels right now too. One is 21 and one is 31. I have a huge soft spot for the old guys.) Please keep up posted.
