Hello! A small part of my cockatiels beak seems to be falling off. Is this normal? 20220805_111549.jpg 20220805_111605.jpg

Some beak flaking is normal. Can you share any information about the chew toys you are offering? Wood chews will help your bird manage their beak on their own.

Is it just like a layer?
I can’t quite tell from the picture. If it’s just a little flake/layer it is normal.

He doesn't yet have any chew toys, but I'm planning to buy him one.

Buy him a bunch :) especially if you are still learning what his favourite types are. Not all wood chews are the same and each bird has their own preferences.

On the forum there are a bunch of vendors that specialise in parrot safe enrichment toys. I will link one below just as an example. At commercial pets stores they are starting to offer more variety too, so I'm not saying where to should buy your toys. Just suggesting that you try a few different types and see which your bird likes. Your bird must chew wood. A healthy parrot will chew for nearly as long as they eat everyday. It is very important for their beak maintenance and mental health.
