Has anyone used a backpack carrier to take their bird on strolls or hikes? How do you like them? How did your bird(s) like it? Does it get hot in there or is it well ventilated? Pros and cons? I'm curious! I'd like to get one but not sure what the overall opinion is of them. They seem fun!

I have 6 total now, from xs to double large. They are well ventilated, with mesh on the sides and front. If your hiking, I highly recommend the liket bottle attachment as water from the cup holder spill everywhere.

If you have a bird reluctant to go in travel cages, is this harder or easier to manoeuvre bird into than other types of travel cage?

I don't have a problem with Secret with it. The mesh and the fact that the sides close seems to add to security for her.

About two weeks before using, you can either hang the pak on their cage, the side or top so they can explore it. You can also put treats and hang a favorite toy inside so they know going in the pak is safe and fun.

If your going hiking I suggest walking around the house or maybe a block or two so they get used to the motion and movement.

I got two of those carriers on a stroller and both birds (green cheek conure and parrotlet) love them. I just have to bring the stroller into the bird room and my conure goes into it by himself, the parrotlet waits for me to put her into the carrier. Both like going to the little lake nearby my home, have a snack, and get very noisy when they hear the wild birds. The stroller fits nicely into my tiny car and I love taking the birds with me for walks. Celltei also offers a winter fleece and it fits like a glove. Best purchase ever!
Got the stroller used and put my own seats/ pillows on.

What brand of stroller was it? I'm wondering if I could rig my aluminum kings (small) and my celltei on one of these?

I love that set up. I'm not sure my husband would accompany me on walks with it, though. Maybe i'll just leave him behind :sneaky:

It says "instep" on the stroller. Got it for $15 and had to take off all the dirty textiles, then bought two foldable children chairs and took the chair textiles off to put them on the stroller. Backpacks are 13 inch wide, that was all I measured when buying the stroller.

@Kalei's Mom I was told that a certain stroller would work as a base, I was thinking it was a square one though. Thanks for the info. During yard sale time I'll look for these!

Go to celltei page. They have different sizes....and I think they have one for the shoulder now too for the small guys.

We have 3 of these. 2 smalls for capes, and 1 xs for a parrotlet. We use them all the time biking, hiking, and just around town. I believe they all come with back pack straps, a shoulder strap, a car seat strap, a bowl, and a perch. They are very accomodating, and will even customize for you. We had the xs carrier made in blue fabric for my daughters blue parrotlet.
