Are House Spiders Dangerous To Birds.

I saw a small, black house-spider on my ceiling and this just occurred to me. I don’t want to hurt the spider in any way nor to I really want to attempt to remove him since I’m scared he’ll jump on me plus he’s too high to reach. Is he a threat if he bites one of my birds. If one of my birds chooses to eat him, will he be poisonous to them? Also have the same question about ants because I live in the woods and big ones come in my house often.

You know I've never had a problem with that one but I suppose it depends on your area and the birds you have. None of my birds have ever been hurt by the spiders we have here but we don't tend to have lots of piosonus types and mainly have the orange barn spiders and the grey funnel web grass/house type spiders here. I don't think any of my birds would try to catch or eat one and most would probably be scare of them. Others should jump in with more, better info, but that's been my take on it.

We have heaps of spiders here but the only ones I really honestly worry about my bird getting too close to are white tails and red backs as I’ve heard they can cause problems for many different pets. The rest of the spiders I’m not too worried about and have even watched Burt trying to catch/squash them.
If the spider you see is a dangerous one for you then I’d be cautious about letting it get too close to your bird but generally most spiders I’m aware of will try to get away from you/animals not go investigating.

Alrighty, I just know how fragile birds can be and I wasn’t sure if spiders that didn’t have enough venom to kill humans did have enough venom to be harmful to birds. I mostly just have regular house-spiders, wolf-spiders and orb-weavers but the orb-weavers usually stay outside. I’ve never seen one inside. I’ve also heard that if my birds eat meat, they can get sick, idk if arachnids and insects count as meat for them, though.

It depends on the spider. For the most part, most spiders are not going to attempt to get near a bird because they are a predator to them. There is no benefit to biting them, and a huge risk. I imagine their feathers will also protect them to a degree as the bird will feel the spider long before it has a chance to bite.

I do not believe there are any poisonous spiders. Venom works totally differently and must be injected.

Yes technically arachnids and insects count as meat but it is very protein rich, low fat source of meat. Eating "animal" meat can be linked to heart diseases, but this is over the course of their life, and even if they eat one a month I don't think that bugs qualify ;)
