What happens when you ignore a member?

I noticed that when you click on a member's name, next to "Follow" there is also an "Ignore" option. Since I just learned that Following doesn't mean you'll be spammed by every post a person makes, it makes me wonder what the "Ignore" function does.

Do you just not get any Conversations from that person if they send them? Or do you not see any of their posts? That would make it hard to read threads with gaps of information missing. Or you might end up posting something that's what they just said and you look like a goober? Can people tell or find out if they're being ignored?

I can't be the only person who's curious.

The ignore button means that you don't automatically see their posts - you get a little greyed out message that gives you the option of reading their posts if you click on it. You can test it with me. "Ignore" me and then I'll post something in the cricket thread.

I always thought I meant ignoring everything they post, I could be wrong though, I’ve never actually tried doing that myself.

Aaack! I ignored SandraK, refreshed my screen and instead of her message, there was a yellow bar that said "You are ignoring content by this member. Show Ignored Content". Then I went to see if she had posted in the other thread yet, and came back to this thread and her entire post is gone for me! No option to Show Ignored Content or anything.

I found another thread I know she's posted on and it does show her entry and gives me the yellow option to Show Ignored Content. But I still don't see her post on here. Anyone else?

I can't take it anymore! I hate Ignoring one of my favorite members who I am also Following, it's too weird and I feel mean.

Okay, I found a little "Show Ignored Content" at the bottom right under all of the posts and yours came up with the yellow option bar. It's weird that the other threads already showed your posts but you disappeared completely from this one until I clicked that little link at the bottom.

One of our favorite features. Having an argument with the same member everyday? We can click one button and you two will never see each other again. Everything is peaceful once more....

Yes, the @ sign and then you start typing the member's name. That should pull up a box listing members with similar name beginnings and you double click on the right one.
