What do you guys use to protect your birds from getting in the tank?

When I was a kid my parents had hamsters in aquariums and they made wood frame covers for the aquariums because we had cats. They used chicken wire but if you want to keep bird poop out, you could probably also use the type of wire netting that is used for windows and doors, the metal one preferred because birds can and will chew through the fibreglass kind.

It was so they could check him out. Once they sniffed him(sort of) they weren't so curious anymore.
Don't think I would have tried that if they were cats!
