I took her to emergency clinic and they had the oxygen waiting. Dr Gold was in the woods doing something with deer and the lyme vaccine so they could not reach him. Buttons was in the tank 20 mins and Dr Gold called and told me to get her to him immediately. She has lost weight, alot, she is only 900 grams. She is lethargic and off balance. The good news is her lungs are clear and good. She is eggbound
They thought the egg was broken but it now appears it is not, it is soft and HUGE. Dr Gold gave her a sedative and he is giving her an hour to lay this egg and if not, he is taking it. So I am waiting the hour.
Thank you for the prayers and please keep them coming We are not out of trouble yet, he said she has good chances but there is also a chance she won't make it.

I'm so glad she is at the vet. Buttons is going to make it, she's a fighter. Will continue to send good healing prayers for Buttons, and some calming energy on it's way to you Janice along with a hug. Come on beautiful girl, pass this egg and get feeling better.

He just called and Buttons did not lay the egg but he got it out. He said the egg was rotten and had collapsed on itself. He said he cannot even begin to guess how long it was in there, he said very long. Since the egg was so rotten, Buttons now has sepsis (sp?). He said I can come back and take a look at her, he also said I can take her home if I feel comfortable. He said she has so much drainage going on right now he wants to keep her for the next 2 hours but I can get her after that. He said she will be on antibiotics, twice a day to get rid of the sepsis.
I got lucky, and I say "I" because I don't think I could go on without her. She is my heart and soul and I have shed more tears today than I have all year.
Thank you for the prayers guys, I really mean that. I posted in a state of panic when I could not find a Vet. Buttons could not perch at that point and I was holding her and she would close her eyes. It honestly scared me half to death.
I obviously have issues with my Macs and these eggs and Dr Gold is urging me to give Mia the Lupron shots. I know I said I don't want to do this but I can't risk any of their lives anymore. This was a wake up call for me.
Is it weird that Buttons has never laid an egg before? She is 23 yrs old and this is her first, and it didn't go so well for her. I am happy she is alive and I will never take her presence here for granted. I aged 30 yrs today.

How scary, what if you'd been away. So glad its ok, I dont think I'm ever getting a female bird, ever. What terrible time they go thru. Does this kind of thing happen to wild birds?

Janice if she's that sick, I don't know if I would bring her home. She could experience another emergency. I do believe I would let her stay the night and maybe tomorrow close to vet care.
