I have a small and awkwardly shaped home office. I have been perplexed on what kind play area to create for Rip so she can join me from time to time while I slave away :whip2:making the $ that keeps the princess in jewels and furs :merlieshops:. I've set aside this space 022.jpg
for the future home of Rip's play area. The couch stays, the rest of the crap in that corner will be relocated. Inspired by this thread Korbel and Maui's Playgym overhaul...... | Avian Avenue Parrot Forum I've settled on a DIY play table. It will give me much needed storage below and allow me to make the most of an irregular space. This thread was created to document my work.....and to light a fire under my bum to keep plugging away at it.

After finally finding some base pieces that could accommodate my artistic vision I have this 017.jpg Final size will be 53" long and 34" wide and the height has yet to be determined.

Hopefully, we will continue to catch a bit of a break from our unbearably hot and humid Midwestern summers and I can get this sucker done very soon!

@Macawnutz I told you I was stealing your idea! :sneaky:

I'm going to be using the same tile that I used on all the Java tree bases.

I love tile but worry about cracking it. My guys drop huge heavy objects that make large dents in the Java bases. Will your tile hold up or is RIP an angel?

Do they still sell the laminate on the rolls as you would eliminate any seams
They do, but dealing with that adhesive is just yucky! Plus the stuff on rolls is usually.....ugly. The stick on versions have better designs. I get them very tightly packed and run a bit of caulk that I press into the joints and you are good to go!

I think the problem with using carpenters glue with something non-rigid, like a roll of laminate/vinyl flooring, is that you want complete glue coverage otherwise you get bubbling and peeling. I think carpenters (autocorrect keeps wanting me to type "crap trees") glue would be difficult to get complete coverage. With the planks you just need a long bead of glue, not total surface coverage......right?
