It's that time of year :) The birdies outdoors have built their nests and are now laying and incubating eggs. On my front porch, on one of the columns, nestled amid the English Ivy is the most perfect robin's nest I've ever seen. It looks like mama robin has even tried to decorate it with a few colorful berries. So pretty:

In my garage, on a shelf right by the laundry room door, the friendly Carolina wrens have contructed a tube-shaped nest of moss, leaves, sticks, straw and feather down. It's not as aesthetically pleasing to a human as the robin's nest, but it's very effective! Kudos, my little brown friends :)

The eggs in the perfect robin's nest hatched today. I snapped a quick picture while Momma was off foraging :) :

The wrens were not so lucky. Something raided their nest, tore it up and stole all five of their little speckled eggs :( I'm going to put up a wren house for them for added safety.

Aren't they? :) I'm just delighted to have them on my porch. I hope they stay safe. They're so highly visible; it's a little worrisome.

Here's another nest I've been watching. This is a Cardinal nest right outside Max and Sonny's window. I've only seen the female bird, building and sitting on the nest. It's almost like she got as close to the window as she could.

Oh, and here are the baby robins on Day 3:
