Just seeing this. Chris you handled it very well...waited till afterward to grab the wine. I'm glad you called the vet. Even if you don't have to make the trip, it saves a lot of explanation later if you do have to go in a hurry.

Chris just seeing this also. I hope Jasper is ok. I agree until he gets better skills, you'll have to try and protect him. I have the window decals, they do work. Maybe if he is out flying too you could draw some blinds or hang a sun catcher on the window. Please keep us updated. :hug8:

re: <resolved> Jasper just hit a window

He is doing just fine now, playing, eating and drinking. I let him out and he flew into the kitchen so is flying ok also.

When it happened they were with me on their playstand in the kitchen and Tango got spooked by something and took off. That spooked Jasper and he took off as well. The next thing I heard was a loud smack and ran into the living to see what happened and he was just sitting stunned on the bay window. My heart just fell and I gently picked him up and cuddled him for about 10 minutes. That actually scared me more because he never allows cuddles from anyone but Tango. We have no blinds or curtains on any of our windows. We live in the country in the woods, no one to see in. I put some masking tape in big X's across all of the windows now until the decals come. He really needs to learn how to land better before I have a heart attack!

I have found the best way to prevent a crash is to put those suction Happy Perches on all the windows so they a a reference point to land on.

I'm another one who has no curtains on the windows...thankfully, they haven't hit the windows that hard but land on other cages and run the chance of loosing toes or holes in beaks! It is never ending!
Ginger I like the idea of the perches on the window IF they stick properly! You could end up with a cracked or broken window if the bird lands HARD and the perch unsticks and falls....:hug8:

I've not had good luck with those semi-transparent decals that you stick on the outside of the windows for wild birds. I've had to replace them with light-colored opaque (or nearly opaque) stickers to keep the wild birds from hitting the windows if they get spooked. It sounds like other folks here have had good success with the decals indoors with their parrots. Let us know what kind of decals you are using and how well they work for Jasper. Thanks!

Chris - what a scare, I'm so glad both of you are okay now. The perch does sound like a great idea.
