When I gave MC a bath, I saw something suspicious. 20191221_173013.jpg 20191221_173120.jpg 20191221_173047.jpg He has had strange feathers for a while in that location.

He currently has a vet appt early on Saturday with Secret. I think it's about time for their annual visit anyway.

Secret has to be checked for blood to continue her medication.

Almost looks like a crop burn, which it isnt,,,hope it's not serious! :hug8:
You think that's his crop area?

I pulled up a diagram of a parrot and couldn't tell.

Yeah that's the crop area. Take a look at the bottom of the sore spot a little to the left. There is a feather there that looks like it may be infected. One infected feather can make a big sore.

Check on it ad let us know what you think. Way too early to panic.

It's his crop. Truthfully, crops are weird and not many people look at them without feathering. Birds can drink a lot during a shower, I'm hoping he just swallowed a bunch and it was weird a droopy. Very possible it's nothing so deep breath.

That one spot does look raw and sore, I hope it's something benign or just looks bad because crops are weird in general. Of course it appears now, when most specialized vets are closed for Christmas.

@Macawnutz @enigma731 Take a look at MC's sore on her chest.
I see the red spot but I'm not fully convinced it's a sore. Crop's are so weird and transparent, i've seen some really weird looking ones.

This is the area we are looking at. That U at the neck line is the crop. When filled with liquid they bulge out and can appear strange.

@Macawnutz Did you see the feather I notice? It has a black hole (looks like) around it's base.
You are looking at this right ML?

I’m with Sarah. That is a weird area (crop) and thing always “look” bad when they are wet. Let him dry off (or dry him) and then look are that area again.

I’m not saying there’s not something wrong but it’s not an emergency.

Now Clueless... We can solve this super fast. Just towel that sweetie and let's get a better look see. :shy:
Ummmmm. Never have done that.

Lessons will be taken from my friend that does their nails. She's gonna smack me when I admit I've never done it and I'm scared to.

He has an appt Saturday.

Hubby said he's been like this for some time with those feathers so I've been trying to remain calm based on that alone.

What it's really odd is that YEARS AGO I had a freak out over a shower where I saw red in that area. I took MC to a friend's house (after a phone consult with my vet who said no active blood, bring him in tomorrow and save yourself the emergency rate).

That friend toweled him and couldn't see anything. She misted that area and it was a feather that was red on the bottom!!!
